TEXAS ANNIE: The Legend of the Moan Ranger is based on a real-life law passed in 1973 that made owning six or more sex toys a felony in the state of Texas. Although the law was overturned by a federal court of appeals in 2008, Texas kept the law on the books. Which means, presently, you can (legally) own more guns than sex toys in Texas.
Anti-obscenity laws, largely targeting the LGBTQ population, like the one TEXAS ANNIE’s based on, are rapidly on the rise. And, unfortunately, that’s no joke…
